A wabi sabi serving or eating bowl, made from local black cherry wood in our shop in Downeast Maine.

This small multi-purpose bowl would be great for serving guests as part of your bust-out-the-nice-stuff entertaining wares, as a natural storage place for fruit, or as an everyday eating bowl.

We picked up this beautiful piece of warm reddish-brown black cherry wood in Penobscot, Maine which we salvaged from a large wind-felled tree. We shaped and hollowed out the bowl on our lathe while the wood was green, and allowed the elliptical shaping of the rim to develop as the bowl dried. The bottom of the inside of the bowl is accented with a flowing faceted texture left by our curved spoon knives.

The bowl is accented with dark wabi sabi color speckles and surface worm holes, so it  shouldn't be used with very liquid-y foods, like vinegary salad dressing or soup. The outside of the bowl has been stained with black tattoo ink, and the overall surface of the wood has been finished with food-safe organic solvent-free linseed oil and candelilla wax.

This bowl is completely one-of-a-kind unique and non-replicable.

About 6" by 5 1/2" by about 2" tall overall. The bowl is about 1 1/2" deep.

You will receive the same exact bowl as in the photos. The spoon is not included.
