A dramatic display bowl with a curved end, intricately carved by hand from local poplar wood in our shop in Downeast Maine.

This art bowl would be a unique addition to your collection of exceptional entertaining wares, could act as a decorative centerpiece for your breakfast table, or serve as an everyday statement bowl on your countertop.

We salvaged this beautiful piece of warm light brown poplar wood from our wooded land in Ellsworth, ME. We created this bowl using traditional handtools, and allowed the angular shaping and curvature of the underside to be achieved free-form without the use of compasses or rulers. The resulting shape provides a pleasing contrast with the delicate and subtle handcarved texture on the inside of the bowl. The outside angular surface of the bowl has been finished with a bluish dark silver wax that was made from a mixture of beeswax and mica. The inside surface of the bowl has been finished with organic solvent-free linseed oil and candelilla wax, which makes the wood silky smooth and is safe for food contact.

This functional bowl is completely one-of-a-kind unique and non-replicable.

8 1/4" long by 5 3/4" wide by 3 1/4" tall overall.

You will receive the same exact bowl as in the photos. Hand wash only and re-finish with our wood balm as needed.
