A small long serving bowl, carved by hand from local white birch in our shop in Downeast Maine.

This multi-purpose bowl would be great for serving guests as part of your bust-out-the-nice-stuff entertaining wares, as a decorative centerpiece for your breakfast table, or as an everyday statement bowl on your countertop.

We salvaged this beautiful piece of warm light brown birch wood from a large wind-felled tree in Penobscot, Maine. We created this bowl using only hand tools, and allowed the angular shaping on the underside to be achieved free-form without the use of compasses or rulers. The resulting shape provides a pleasing contrast with the delicate and subtle handcarved texture on the inside of the bowl. The top of the bowl has been gently carved leaving a smooth surface and decorated with organic fair trade coffee using pigmentation technique called kolrosing.

This bowl is completely one-of-a-kind unique and non-replicable.

The surface of the bowl has been finished with organic solvent-free linseed oil and candelilla wax, making the wood smooth and perfect for food contact.

The spoon used in the photos above is not included.

About 9" long by 3 1/2" wide by 1 1/2" tall overall.

You will receive the same exact bowl as in the photos. Hand wash only and re-oil with the included tin of our wood balm as needed.
